BUS US-127 (Jackson)

(Temporary) Western Terminus: M-37, southeast of Kentwood
(Permanent) Eastern Terminus: I-96, east of Kentwood
(Temporary) Distance: 7 miles

M-6 (South Beltline) is a new south freeway bypass of Grand Rapids, which will ultimately connect I-196 to I-96 at a distance of 20 miles.  For now, a 7 mile stretch is open from M-37 east to I-96.  Brian Reynolds traversed this stretch of M-6 on May 5, 2002.  He photographed the series of signage, shown below, along the last 2 miles of eastbound M-6, approaching I-96.  Note how the M.D.O.T. has placed strong emphasis on the fact that this is the end of the line for M-6.

The temporary western terminus of M-6 is at M-37.  M-6 is scheduled to be completed to its ultimate western terminus at I-196 by 2005.
